Decades ago, a pair of warriors known as the Gunstar Heroes fought the Destructor, Golden Silver, on the moon…but not much was known about them.  The destruction of Golden Silver had lead to the genesis of four moons, each with remnants of past civilizations.  These moons were colonized, and a new age of prosperity dawned on Earth.  However, the moon colonies eventually revolted against the Earth, claiming that they were not provided with a piece of the prosperity that the Earth had received from harvesting the resources of the moons.  A man named Dr. Shadow Light tried to resolve the conflict by finding a new source of resources.  He happened upon a relic, the Megalith, which had the power to step out of the limitations of our universe and rewrite it with but a thought.  The good doctor delighted at his good fortune; here, in his lab, was a means of ending the conflict between the Earth and moons.  What’s more, the Megalith, along with the fabled “Treasure Gems”, could be used to control the once-brutal Golden Silver, who could guide humanity into a better future.  But Sir Edwin Gray, an Earth nobleman who served as the doctor’s benefactor, had other ideas.  He intended to use the Megalith to amass an army and to resurrect Golden Silver, so that he could rule the Earth and its moons.  Gray had Dr. Shadow Light “removed” from the presidency of the Imperial Republic, a political body originally intended to maintain diplomatic relations between the Earth and the Moons, and turned the Republic into a full-blown Empire.  However, a new generation of Gunstar Heroes…two of which were the late doctor’s son and daughter, Green and Yellow Shadow Light, sought to end the conflict.  Green found out the truth about his father, and infiltrated the Empire to get revenge on Gray and live out his father’s last wishes.  His friends, the new Gunstars Red and Blue, stopped him, but it was too late…Golden Silver had already been revived!  The Gunstars then worked together to defeat Golden Silver once more.  Crippled, the Destructor charged towards the Earth, intending to destroy it, but an apparent sacrifice by Green foiled the metal being’s plans.  However, there was more to the situation than what had been let on…the treasure gems were guardians of alternate Earths who talked of an “Outside Space” that threatened the Earth and who was responsible for Golden Silver’s corruption, in addition to the destruction of their Earths’ civilizations.  They were touched by Green’s sympathy towards the confused Golden Silver, and used their powers to help him survive the impact with the so called Destructor.  Now, Green, along with his friends, seeks a new path to peace and prominence among humanity, with the help of the Treasure Gems.  However, a new threat lurks in the Shadow of the Light…the mother of Green and Yellow, Violet Shadow Light, remains angry over the loss of her husband, and seeks to initiate a project that will destroy the Earth, allowing for the creation of a vessel that can link the moons together and allow them to travel through space in the quest for resources.  To do this, she needs not only the Megalith, but the Treasure Gems as well!  She has brainwashed the former Empire commanders, Pink the bounty hunter, Dr. Black, and Sergeant Orange, and sent them out to gather the Treasure Gems.  But what is this?!  After Golden Silver was destroyed again, two more new moons appeared, each with their own guardian Treasure Gem.  The Treasure gems Satoa, Ruks, Alioto, and Miko were joined by their friends, Hession the Purple Gem and Latz the White Gem.  Knowing the Gunstar Super Heroes would be after her in due time, Violet sent two of her strongest minions, Tan and Cyan, to the new moons to pick up the other two gems.  Unfortunately for her, the Gunstars have a new team member.  Dr. Brown, the famed Earth scientist who became a hermit after a crisis of morality, came out to aid the Gunstars in their quest for peace.  It is said that he was once a great hero himself, known to many elderly folk as the legendary Gunstar White.  His youngest son, Alexander White Brown, also wishes to help the Gunstars in any way he can, as he feels he needs to live up to his father’s legacy (off topic: Alex White Brown would be a unlockable character in my version of a possible “Threequel” of the Gunstar Heroes series, as the new Gunstar White).  

The game would have a 1 player mode (GSH in game play), a 2 player mode (GH in game play), and a 4 player mode (GH with elements of GSH thrown in, to make up for the greater difficulty, though it has the best bosses!  Four-way Mega Boss, anyone?)

-Megalith Iron (unlockable; single player only; no personal weapon; no Gunstar moves; not even gems to help him…but his laser will rock your world!)

------------Please note: The story will be based on that of the 4-player mode with Red, Blue, Green and Yellow.  The text for characters and the story will change depending on how many are playing and who you play as, kind of like Gunstar Super Heroes’ set up.  In easy mode, you don’t get to face the truly final boss, though.  There is no difference in story between the normal and hard modes, but you can unlock something special for finishing hard with each of the playable characters!--------

Violet: I am Violet Shadow Light, the wife of the late Dr. Shadow Light who lost his life to these wretched, ungrateful denizens of the Earth…

Red: What do you want here?!
Violet: Nothing, child.  I just want to tell you that I am going to destroy the Earth…in order to finalize my husband’s dream.
Blue: What!  Do you realize how many people live here?!  You are just going to let them die?
Violet: Of course not…as much as I loathe the Earth’s rulers…I cannot help but empathize with the general population.  I will give them one month to surrender themselves and migrate to the moons where they will be safe.  
Green: How can they be safe if you intend to destroy the Earth, mother?  Will the moons not just float off aimlessly into space?
Violet: All will be revealed in time, my son.  Until then, you had best stay out of my way!  Oh, and you might want to help your friend, Brown.  He seems to have gotten the attention of my robot…mwahahahahaha!!!

Red: Drat!  We have to save Dr. Brown!
Blue: Come on, everyone!  Let’s take ‘em!

Green:  But why?
Brown:  She wants to use this vessel as a means of uniting humanity.  In addition, I believe that the vessel would be capable of interstellar travel!  We could travel to all sorts of new planets rich with resources!
Yellow: But she can’t destroy the Earth!  Think of how hard it will be for humanity to survive without its tender care!
Brown: I know, Yellow, but I tried talking to Violet after Gray had taken over the empire…she wouldn’t listen to reason!
Blue: So, I guess we are going to have to get the Gems again, huh?  Great.  What a drag…
Red:  Stop being so irresponsible!  We have a world to save!
Green: Let’s move, team!

Yellow: So Pink and her minions were brainwashed?
Green: So it seems…Pink, do you remember anything at all after your walk at the beach?
Pink: Just one, I’m afraid.  He kept calling out, again and again…what was it he said?
Red: Who?
Pink: Little girl, if I knew, I would have told you…
Red:  I am not a little girl!!!
Green: Settle down!  What did this person say?
Pink: He said:…Beware…Meg…Lith…I…er…on…sss…to…Outside…Spa…
Yellow: That’s it?
Pink: That’s all I can remember, Gunstars!  Well, I am not going to let this little mishap get in the way of my vacation!  Kain!  Kotaro!  Get me a beach towel, some suntan lotion, and a glass of cool water!  I am going to rest my eyes next to the river here!
Green: Hmm…the words…so familiar.
Yellow: Brother?
Green: Yes, Yellow?
Yellow: That voice, those words, they can’t mean…he’s coming…could it?
Green: I don’t know, Yellow, I don’t know…
Blue: Will you hurry up?  We are ready to go here!
Green: Right!  Let’s move!

Red: You were attacked?!
Orange:  Yes.  I was busy training some unruly cadets when a huge spaceship came out of nowhere and started dropping off strange robots.  Next thing I knew, I was here…
Green: So, you can’t remember anything that happened after that?
Orange:  Well, there was one thing…a voice called out to me several times.  It said: The…Danger…I…need…stop…Outside…Sp…will…destroy…use…gems.  That’s it, though.
Yellow: Ok, now I am freaked out!
Red: That “Danger” you spoke of, I think it might be…
Green: Outside Space?  If that is the case, then we don’t have much time!  Gunstars!  Let’s move out!
Orange: Hey, wait!  I need to get back to my training camp!

Magenta:  Yeah, so what?  I may have lost this battle, but I can still make it up to Lady Violet by killing you two!!

Magenta: Grrr…I can’t kill you or Yellow…I will retreat for now!!
Green: Hold on!  Who are you?
Magenta: I am Magenta Shadow Light, adopted daughter of Violet Shadow Light.
Yellow: We have an adopted sister?
Magenta: Yes.  I was orphaned because my real parents were killed in a mining accident.  The Earth government hired them to assess raw materials on the Moons.  However, because those stingy bureaucrats refused to give my parents more money, they wound up having to work with antiquated equipment.  Eventually, something had to give, and it cost my parents their lives!  Lady Violet treats me like I was her real daughter, and for that, I owe her greatly.  To tell you the truth…I don’t really like to fight.  I probably don’t have the guts to kill someone, but I have to fight now, to save our future from evil, greedy men like the late General Gray!
Yellow: Surely there is another way, though?  Destroying the Earth is too much to gamble on!
Magenta: You don’t understand…I have to leave now.  Goodbye!  Absilio Mundus!
Green: Are you two all right?
Red: We are fine, Green?  But what did she mean by that last statement?
Green:  Obviously, we are too precious to our mother to be killed.  That might work to our advantage…
Yellow:  Of course, we can’t be sure that Violet’s other commanders will be that gracious…
Blue: Come on!  Lighten up!  We have a long way to go yet!  Who knows, maybe your mom will listen to reason when we get to her!

Green: Don’t mock Dr. Black, Blue!  He was the head scientist of the Imperial Republic next to my father!  A lot of his machines are just as deadly, if not more so, than those of my father’s!

Black: I remember that contraption!  Your father designed it to aid psycho-therapists!
Green: Yes, but my mother redesigned it to take control of your mind!
Black: What?!  Why would Lady Violet do such a thing?  I know she was mad about the Doctor’s death, but still…
Yellow: Do you remember anything at all from before you were put in your trance, Dr. Black?
Black: Yes, as a matter of fact.  I remember hearing something about chosen heroes, a dark evil, the Megalith and the Treasure Gems.
Yellow: Can you tell us specifically what the voice said?
Black: No, but I can tell you who the voice belongs to – Golden Silver!
Green: What!  That’s impossible!  I destroyed the Destructor only a year ago!
Black: It didn’t sound like the Golden Silver we knew then; he sounded different in my head, almost as though he had finally found peace.
Blue: Man!  Golden Silver talked to you!  What a head trip…
Red: Blue!  Get serious!  Golden Silver is obviously warning us of something!
Green: Indeed.  We must hurry if we are to stop the danger that Golden Silver is warning us about.  Let’s get going!
Black: Err, do you think you could give me a lift?  After what I have been through, I need a nice long rest…
Blue: Well, you couldn’t do any worse, could you?
*Red smacks Blue*
Blue: Ow!  Ok, ok, he can come!  Let’s get going, already!

Green: Looks like the mercenaries sent here have beaten us to the Gem.  At least there is still time to catch them.

Red: So who is their leader?
Yellow: According to my data banks, their leader is the infamous mercenary, Tan.
Blue: Oooh, he’s infamous!  Sounds like a challenge!
Red: Stop fooling around, Blue!  We have to move quickly if we are going to catch them!
Green: Let’s go, team!

Tan: You seem to have a smart mouth for one so young!  We shall see how that tongue shall roll the next time we meet!
Green: Not so fast, Tan!  We aren’t finished with you yet!  Why is my mother trying to destroy the Earth?
Tan:  You are the son of Lady Violet?  Alright, I will humour you a little longer.   Your mother, much like me, was the victim of Earth’s greed.  I was born in raised in a village on Earth.  This village was peaceful and treated our planet well.  However, such peace was short-lived.  The Earth military was fighting a war with one of the Moon’s rebel armies.  They swept in and destroyed my village.  I was separated from my family and friends.  Eventually, nothing remained of my village.  I searched desperately for my family, but no one was left.  They had either been captured or killed in the fire.  Then, Lady Violet found me crying by my former home.  She took pity on me and took me under her wing as her bodyguard.  I trained as a soldier of the newly-formed Imperial Republic, and eventually grew strong enough to become a great leader.  However, because of my loyalty to the late Dr. Shadow Light, General Gray had me expelled from his “empire”.  All the dreams I had of creating peace died with the good Doctor.  Lady Violet felt much the same as I did: bitter and disillusioned.  We took it upon ourselves to raise an army to oust the Earth government.  However, one day, Lady Violet suddenly had the inspiration to gather the Treasure Gems, bringing us to the situation here in the present.
Green: You are making a big mistake, Tan.  I tried to live out my father’s dream of peace and prosperity, and it almost cost us everything.  Please, don’t make my mistake…
Tan: Who are you to tell me how to live my life!?  I have suffered enough at the hands of Earth aristocrats!  It is time they paid the price for their disrespect for others!  Absilio Mundus!  Goodbye, Gunstars!
Yellow: Poor Tan.  It isn’t his fault that he’s like this…I wish he would just let it go.
Red: We all know what it feels like to be without a family…at least you and Green have a mother.
Green: Yes, and in the light of my father’s dream, I promise that I will not allow my mother’s plan to come to fruition.  I need to show her that she is making the wrong decision!
Blue: Well, what are we waiting for?  Let’s go already!

Red: Cyan!  I know what it is like to feel rejected.  Throughout my years at the 3YE academy, I felt like I would never amount to anything, and that no one would give me a chance.  However, I made it through all my adversities, and I became stronger as a result.  Do you know why?  It is because Blue helped me up when I was down.  No matter what happened, he always stuck by me, and I returned his kindness by helping him open up to others!  Green probably did the same for you, and this is how you repay him?  Why can’t you just let go of the past?
Cyan: I cannot let go because the Gunstars made me who I am today!  You think I had it good when I was expelled?!  You have no idea!  I was a wreck!  One day, I felt like killing myself, to end the pain, but then Lady Violet came up and stopped me.  She took me in, and helped me get over my grief and impatience.  She helped me redirect my passion into something more practical than gun-slinging: Science.  I knew then, that I found my true niche in life.  I could invent things that could prevent accidents like the one that crippled Mauve from happening ever again.  I could make this world better for everyone…especially my brother…
Yellow: Who is your brother?
Cyan: Someone who has been with you a long time…in fact…he’s already here.
Green: Enough!  Tell us who your brother is, and how my mother came to think of destroying the Earth!
Cyan: To answer your first question, my brother is none other than – Blue Gunstar!
*Gunstars have shocked looks on their faces*
Blue: My…brother?
Cyan: Yes.  Now on to Green’s other question.  After the second Golden Silver incident, your mother happened upon the Megalith, who told her that she could carry out her husband’s dream by creating an interstellar vessel that could tug planets through space.  However, creating such a vessel required that a planet be destroyed, to obtain enough natural energy to power it.  The Earth was the only planet capable of fulfilling that requirement.  The Megalith insisted that this vessel would be far better than the Earth in sustaining and enriching humanity; it could harvest resources for the moons from asteroids and comets – even stars!  To destroy the Earth, though, and absorb its energies, Lady Violet required the Treasure Gems.  
Green: Cyan, why are you helping her?  You could have stopped her at any time…
Cyan: Because, old friend, I wanted to see you again…to try and convince you to join our cause…Lady Violet is a kind woman.  She wants what is best for us, can you not see that?
Green: I am sorry, Cyan, but I can’t allow you or my mother to go through with this.
Cyan: I see.  Then there is no point in me staying here any longer.  Farewell, Gunstars!  Absilio Mundus!
Yellow: Cyan…I am sorry you had to suffer through Mauve’s injuries…it wasn’t your fault.
Blue: Come on, Yellow!  If we are going to save my brother, then we are going to have to get a move on!
Yellow: Right!  Let’s move out!

Violet: Fufufufu!  There is nothing you can do to stop me!  For one thing, I have your precious professor held hostage at my base!  If you bring the Gems to me, I shall let him go.  I do not wish to draw blood in this dispute anymore than you do!
Red: What!  Erahhh…don’t worry Doctor Brown!  We will save you!
Brown: Please!  Do not fret about me!  Keep the Gems hidden from Violet!  She can’t finish her plan without them!
Violet: Silence, fool!
Blue: Leave the doc alone!
Green: Mother, I cannot allow you to go through with this!  We shall meet, face to face, and we will talk this over.
Violet: I am done talking!  Bring me the Gems or the doctor will suffer an untimely death!
Yellow: Mother, please stop!  You know that this isn’t what father wanted!
Violet: …I am sorry, child.  I have come too far to quit now.  Humanity will be saved, and I shall provide the means to save it!

Violet:  I can’t believe I lost…I had the perfect plan…I thought you two, my own children, would come to join my cause.  I thought you wanted to live up to your father’s dream…
Green: We do, mother, but not in the way you want.  Father would never have approved of this, you know that.
Yellow: Why are you so angry, mother?  Our father proved that humanity could come together and prosper when he formed the Imperial Republic.  It was just that people like General Gray wouldn’t let go of the old ways.  It’s not like it could have happened any other way…can’t you just let it go?  Green and I both agreed that after the Destructor was destroyed, we would do everything in our power to protect humanity, no, the Earth, from harm.  We knew this planet was ours to destroy…or heal.
Red: The Gems helped me discover first hand the perils that a civilization will face…we shouldn’t try to work around them like cowards!  We should make a stand against adversity!
Blue: I thought that life was so simple when I was a Cadet.  Now, here I am, into my Second year or so as a Gunstar, and already I have found that life is too complex to just throw away…especially life on Earth.
Green: Don’t you see, mother?  Destroying the Earth will only hurt humanity.  It is more a part of us than anyone could ever imagine.  Think of all the civilizations that were destroyed when people on the Gems’ alternate Earths misused their world!  We cannot do the same.
Violet: You are right, my child.  I must make amends for my overzealous actions!  I profess that I almost lost control of myself when the Megalith proposed that there could be a way to make my husband’s dream a reality.
Megalith: And you were a fool to trust me!
*Megalith shocks Violet, sending her unconscious*
Megalith: Witless female!  I give you the chance to make everything right, and you blow it!  If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself!
Green: Mother!
Blue: Hold it, pal!  We know what you’re really up to!
Red: You want to summon Outside Space using the Earth’s energies!
Megalith: Hmm, seems I underestimated your intellect…but it matters not!  While my secret may be out, you will never stop me from destroying your precious planet!  You fools brought the Treasure Gems right to me!
Red: No!  The Earth!
??? : Evil will never prevail when humanity stands united!  Terran!  Destroy that control panel!
Megalith: What!  Noooooo!!!
*Control panel is destroyed*
Megalith: Bah!  You may have destroyed my first plan, but I have another plan in the works!  Terran, you fool!  You will pay for your interference!  You may be strong, but with the Treasure Gems, Outside Space will destroy you all!  Enjoy death, meddlers!
*Megalith teleports*
??? : This is bad…we have to stop the flow of power before the ship blows…
Red: Who are you?
??? : I am the new White Gunstar, Alexander Blanco Brown!
Blue: Dr. Brown’s son?!  Can you shut this thing down?
White: I am afraid not.  The control panel is too badly damaged.
Yellow: Mother!  She’s coming to!
Violet: Child…you can stop…ugh…you can stop the ship’s self-destruct sequence by destroying the core.  Please…don’t worry about me…argh!
Green: No!  Mother!  We have to get her out of here!
White: I will take care of her!  You get over to the core!
Red: Roger!  Let’s go, team!

Violet: I would like to thank you all for stopping me…if I had continued to go along with the Megalith’s plan, we would all be lost.  The fiend tricked me; he took advantage of the grief I felt over my husband’s death and used me to serve his plans!  I was weak…but now, thanks to you Gunstars, I am no longer stricken with sorrow.  Thank you ever so much!
Blue: Ah, it was nothing!
Red: We knew you didn’t want to hurt anyone, Lady Violet!  We just couldn’t let you do anything rash!
Yellow: It’s alright, mother.  Green wanted to live out father’s dream, and he let the Megalith trick him.
Green: Believe me, mother.  I sympathized with you, I really did.  I found myself wishing I could be at your side, but I knew in my heart that your plan just didn’t feel like the right step for humanity.  I am glad we were able to stop you before you destroyed the Earth.
Violet: Thank you, Green.  Well, Gunstars, I can fly you in, but I will have to leave so I can get reinforcements.  White can fly you out of there if needed.
White: You are forgetting something, Violet!  Your commanders are not with us, are they?
Violet: Ah, yes...I forgot.  While I was fighting you, the Megalith stayed behind with my commanders.  I don't know what happened to them, but I suspect that the Megalith mesmerized them just in case I failed to follow through with his plan.  Be careful, for if I am correct, they will not hold back if you should fight them!
Green: Much obliged, mother.  Alright, team!  It’s now or never!  Today, we enter the decisive battle!  The survival of humanity is in our hands!
Blue: No pressure or anything, we just have to save the world again!
Red: Oh, Blue!
Blue: Yeah, I know.  I got to get serious.  Let’s get moving, then, shall we?

Red: Blast!  We’re too late!
*A dark cloud of energy appears, consuming half of the Imperial moon*
*Outside Space appears from out of a dark wormhole*
Outside Space: I am the Abysmal One, Outside Space.  Who dares summon me from my realm?
Megalith: I, master, was the one who summoned you!
Outside Space:  Fool!  My power is incomplete!  You were supposed to destroy the Earth so that my power could be complete when I made the journey from my realm to this one!  Your incompetence deserves nothing but annihilation!
*O.S. obliterates the crippled Megalith Iron with a massive energy blast*
Megalith: Yarrrrrghhhhh!!!!
Outside Space: My power is incomplete, but I can start my regeneration by feasting on your power!  This universe will be mine!
White: Not on my watch!
Outside Space:  What?  Who dares…
*White uses Terran to attack Outside Space*
Outside Space: Argh!  Such power…how can a mere Guardian Gem have so much power?
White: It is because all of the people on the Earth and Moons are lending us their strength!  Your reign of terror is over!
Outside Space: Not quite.  Let us see how powerful you Gunstars and your precious Guardian Gems are in MY domain!
*Teleports everyone to the Great Abyss, where the final battle takes place*
*Outside Space takes a much larger, more powerful form*
Outside Space: You are Gunstars.  You are Heroes.  Let us see if you are United, as well!  Come at me, fools, and know pain like no one has ever experienced!

*Outside Space dissolves into nothingness*
*The Gunstars return to the Moon’s core, and everything starts to shake*
Blue: W-w-what’s-s-s hap-p-pen-n-ning?
White: Th-th-the Moon is r-r-rush-shing t-t-to the Earth-th-th!
Red: W-we g-g-got to g-g-get out of here!
*Gunstars escape in White’s ship*
Blue: Man, how are we going to destroy that thing?  Even with the Gems, I don’t know if we can destroy it all before it collides with the Earth!
Violet (over the radio): Never fear, Gunstars, I have brought help!
Green: Huh?  Mother?  What are you doing?
Violet: I brought together every able bodied person to help destroy the Imperial Moon!
Yellow: There is no way you can stop it!  Turn back!  We can handle this!
Violet: No, Yellow, it is just as Red said: humanity needs to make a stand against all that would threaten it and the Earth!  We cannot let Outside Space take our planet down with him!
Green: No!  Mother!  You and that fleet of ships don’t have nearly enough firepower to destroy the Moon completely!
Violet: I am sorry, Green.  We all made up our minds.  We are going to fight for a better future!

Green: Nooooo!  Mother!
Yellow: Mothhhherrrr!
Red: Lady Violet!
Blue: Darn it!  She’s going to crash into the Imperial Moon!

Red: Well, I suppose that makes us Heroes again!
Green: No, Red, we are much more than Gunstars or even Heroes.  We are Gunstar Heroes United!!!
Yellow: Let’s go home, everyone!  I have a feeling everything will be all right from now on…
